The mission of the Youth Education Task Force of Kingdom Causes Long Beach is to systematically work in partnership with LBUSD to have each local school "adopted" by local churches in their neighborhoods.

Currently we are working on the following:

1)  A plan for churches to adopt their local school

2)  2008 Backpack drive

3)  Supporting existing mentoring efforts in the City

All are welcome at our next Task Force Meeting!  We'd love to have you join us in our discovery process!!

Opportunities for Involvement

Adopt your local school!

We would like to see the Church of the City partnering with LBUSD, to support the LBUSD's mission for "personal and intellectual success of every student, every day".

In our involvement through the Long Beach Kingdom Causes' Youth Education Task Force and pilot projects, relationships of trust and integrity have been developed with LBUSD.  Service opportunities are made available by the LBUSD for local churches to be involved in their adopted school.  We see the church as a main stakeholder in the city that has a pool of caring and motivated volunteers.  As the Church of the City works together to help LBUSD succeed in their mission, we will also succeed.

Some potential efforts in adopting a school are:

It’s time for the 2008 Backpack Drive to benefit 10 Long Beach Unified middle schools! In conjunction with Long Beach Unified, Long Beach Rescue Mission and Kingdom Causes will be working to assemble 3,200 backpacks to help students have a positive start for a successful year!

We need the help of local churches! This event will be successful when we all work together, and there is a way for everyone  to be involved!

Please consider giving financially to support this ministry. Checks should be made out to Long Beach Rescue Mission and designated for the backpack drive, and can be mailed to:
