We rally people at the local level around causes. For each identified local area of concern we seek to provide information, opportunities for involvement and a strategic task force in order to develop and implement tangible solutions. |

Emergency Preparedness Task Force
The Alhambra Faith Community Emergency Preparedness Task Force meets monthly for the purpose of: 1. Establishing partnership/communiation among Alhambra Churches, 2. Providing training for Churches in the area of Emergency Preparedness, and 3. Assessing, sharing and providing resources for Churches and the City. Co-Coordinators: Mary Glenn (Kingdom Causes Alhambra) and Pastor Phil Hilliard (Bethany Church of Alhambra)

Sunday, September 28th, 2008; Topic: Practice Drill and Debrief for Statewide Drill (the Great Southern California Shake Out) November 13, 2008.
Sunday, June 29, 2008; Topic: We discussed the statewide drill (the Great Southern California Shake Out) in November 2008 - what it entails and how the Alhambra churches will be involved in it. Alhambra Fire Department was on hand to help describe how the drill will play out.
Sunday, March 30, 2008;
Topic: Grief and Loss - how to provide spiritual care for people during/after a crisis. Overview of what is grief and loss, how to be a good listener (verballly and non-verbally), effective communication skills in trauma situations, how to comfort those who mourn, how to manage stress for helpers, what families/individuals can do to help children cope with trauma. Training provided by: Members of Mental Health Task Force of Kingdom Causes Alhambra.Sunday, September 30th, 2007; Topic: How to start a parish nurse program at your church (and its' benefits). Methodist’s Hospital’s Health Ministries (Parish Nurse) Program develops and supports holistic health programs in faith communities. The program is designed to enhance the ability of faith communities to promote health – body, mind and spirit – to individuals, families, groups and the community. Methodist Hospital provides education, information and resources in the areas of disease prevention and wellness promotion to improve the health of our community.
